Time -Worthy Travel Destinations

 by D.J. Wilson-

The desire to have a good time is part of human nature.  One of the best ways to have fun is to bust out of our ordinary routines.  For just a short time, abandoning our busy schedules or workaholic habits can provide inspiration and get our batteries recharged.  Our time on earth is valuable, yet it’s often taken for granted.  Comedian Dave Barry jokes about it in a spirited way.  “Aside from Velcro, time is the most mysterious substance in the universe.  You can’t see it or touch it, yet a plumber can charge you upwards of seventy-five dollars per hour for it, without necessarily fixing anything.” You don’t have to run up a plumbing bill to agree that time is a valuable intangible.   An American scientist, inventor, statesman, printer and philosopher once posed this important question.  “Dost thou love life?  Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of.”  Let’s apply Benjamin Franklin’s sage advice to our lives by choosing great places to spend our time.

Blue Man Group, Universal Orland Resort, Florida – This interactive live show amuses and entertains audiences in a unique, indescribable manner.  Combining music, art, comedy, science and technology, it is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.  Appealing to all ages but the very young, it is a great family must-see attraction.  The awe-inspiring show lasts one hour and forty-five minutes, with no intermission.  Admission to Universal is not necessary for the show and tickets are sold separately.  The Blue Man Group Theatre is located at the main entrance to Universal Studios Florida.  The Blue Men, true to their namesake, wear blue grease paint on their heads as they entertain their audiences, creating an unforgettable impression.  If you wish to be totally immersed in the spectacle, consider sitting in the poncho section, where audience members are provided with a poncho to protect clothing from some of the splash and mess associated with this entertaining show!

Smugglers’ Notch Resort, Vermont

– If water activities excite you, check out this unforgettable vacation resort offering countless opportunities for fun.  Surrounded in New England beauty, and featuring eight heated pools, relaxing lounge chairs, four winding waterslides, interactive water playgrounds, hot tubs and fresh water reservoirs, water pools and play areas, this resort is ideal for all ages.  Enjoy swirling on a 300-foot-long tube ride or lazily float under warm sunshine.  Explore waterfalls and fountains while taking a dip in the water or simply relax poolside.  Golfing, tennis, hiking, fishing, canoeing, zip-lining, and skate boarding are some of many great activities offered.   Smuggler’s Notch Resort features five mountainside communities in which to stay, with your choice of locations and accommodations and offer Resort Shuttle ride to all Village amenities.  Condominium homes offer fully equipped kitchen facilities and access to laundry or daily maid service.  Family and adult dining options are available and restaurants are proud to feature delicious homemade desserts. This summertime getaway is perfect for those who love water and the great outdoors.

The Exploratorium, San Francisco, California – Located at Pier 15 of San Fran’s Embarcadero, this people-friendly and human-perception museum features 150 brand new indoor and outdoor exhibits.  This place is great for those who love hands-on exploration, providing the opportunity to tinker, think and learn.  Six main galleries focus on different areas of exploration.  The West Gallery explores human phenomena, where visitors experiment with thoughts, feelings and social behavior, and the South Gallery focuses on thinking with your hands.  The Central Gallery emphasizes seeing and listening, and highlights perception.  Folks will enjoy investigating the living world in the East Gallery, followed by a trip to the Bay Observatory Gallery, which concentrates on landscape observation and the local environment.  If that’s not enough, the Outdoor Gallery will make visitors appreciate the bay region, observe shifting winds and tides, and shake a bridge.  When you’re ready to eat, grab a bite at the restaurant and café located on premises.   Visit this out-of-the ordinary ground-breaking museum, bound to satisfy the curiosity in all of us.

Get the most out of your life by treating yourself to fun adventures.  Participate in exhilarating shows, find excitement and pleasure in the great outdoors and explore creative museums to satisfy your intellect.  Maximize the quality of your time by breaking out of dull routines, opting for some playtime instead.  Don’t disappoint Benjamin Franklin by squandering time.  To love life, you must seek experiences to improve your valuable time on earth.
