I see people vent their hate for rich people in noting that they will not pay their fair share in the Fair Tax. What is a rich persons fair share? If we are taxed 10% on every thing we buy, then to reduce our taxes, we simply do not buy a lot. All the rich people I know buy a lot more stuff than I do. So I think it would be a fair tax. However, our government does not have a tax problem, they have a spending problem! They spend and spend borrowed money!

ANYONE still questioning the Fair Tax has either not read about it or just did not understand what they read….. Buy something NEW – pay the Fair Tax – poor take home everything they earn and get prebates to offset Fair Tax on basics and payroll taxes and income taxes (federal) disappear. States will quickly have to follow suit as most of their income taxes are based on the federal IRS determinations as well…….. Quick question? Why would government dislike the Fair Tax method? Think about the LACK of knowledge the Big Brother system would then have about your personal finances……

I agree that everyone should pay their fair amount of taxes . it seems as though our congree does not agree as they have skpped paying their taxes whenever they can ! Consider the axoxunt of putting all of us on Obamacare wether we want it or not ! i am sure a lot of people do not know that Obama excused Congress on paying taxes or even registering for that program !
the rule seems to be that all laws written do not apply to them but the public has to follow them religiously ! They steal money from Social Security and leave a n IOU which will never be collected !
We should vote for a law that states Government employees can be appointed for a term fo two years and after that retire from that appointment ! They would also not be allowed another job in government and not further income than the two year limit ! If you want to see where our
taxes are going look at how many spend years in their Congressional position and then retire at full wages ! Don’t you wish that would apply to you also ! they should not be able to pass any law that does not apply to them also !

All taxes are onerous and patently unfair. America started without them and seemed to work quite well. Government was run with the money collected from duties on imports and other fees. When we started paying our politicians is when the trouble began. Now money and power seem to be the overriding concern of today’s self-serving politicians rather than what’s best for America. Taxes seem to be imbedded into the process now and may be impossible to do without, so we should look for the best (for citizens) way to do it. Taxation should not be about redistributing wealth or punishing someone who does not do as the government wants. The “fair” tax is currently in use in Europe. They call it a value added tax. This scheme will not expose tax increases, it allows the government to raise taxes incrementally without voter approval and gives politicians the ability to claim “it wasn’t me” when tax increases suddenly appear. A flat tax accomplishes what most Americans want; government accountability. Once a rate has been established, it will take a vote by elected officials to change it, up or down. It restores accountability and gives everyone a representative vote as to how much tax is included in the things they purchase. Then we can concentrate on how to return to the the citizen legislator envisioned in our constitution and eliminate all the power brokers in the senate and house of representatives. This will lead us back to true representative government.

If you carefully read that ‘fair’ tax, there isn’t anything really fair about it. It still allows the really rich to skate on having to pay their fair share. The flat tax is actually the most fair choice and it is the one that the really rich fight like hell to keep from coming into being because they would really have to pay taxes on all their income. The corporations would really have to pay taxes as well instead of paying nothing and getting subsidies that were meant to help small business or small family farms. I agree that they shouldn’t be able raise taxes when ever they want and they shouldn’t be able to write them selves raises when ever they want either. This nonsense has got to stop.

Let’s cut the crap about ‘fair’ taxes. That whole premise is based on jealousy and envy. The idea is that you have more than I do so I should give you some of what I have. That is the largest raft of crap I have ever heard. I worked for the gains I have made – why must I share them with someone who refuses to get off their duff and do the same?

In all my years in the labor force, I never worked for a poor person. Every employer by whom I was employed had greater assets than I did – else, how would I receive a salary? Duh!!

Get off of the ‘fair share’ wagon and join the reality club. Those who have make it possible for those who don’t to get. They get by earning their way, living beneath their means to squirrel away for the future and do without luxuries. Living for today is blase’. It keeps one down in the bottom of the food chain. It keeps one from making their place in the world and getting ahead.

I’m tired of paying my ‘fair share’ just so someone can stay home and collect benefits based on my labors. That is an injustice of the worst kind.

@ Y. Curtis:

Your ignorance is grossly showing because your comments railing against the Fair Tax does strongly indicate that you have not read either of the two Fair Tax books, much less comprehending the info stated there if you (doubtfully) did read either one, or both of them.

Ignorance CAN be corrected by willfully learning and reading about the subject matter.

Stupidity only shows that such an individual is UNWILLING to listen, read, and comprehensively LEARN.

Which one are you? Currently Ignorant…. or remaining Stupid.

I feel I paid into this account, and have earned my Social Security Income. Without it I could not survive unless I depended on my children and that is not fair.

I understand that these funds have been taken out for other than social securitiy. Not right.

it would have been a simple solution to have invested our contributions instead of illegally taking the money for other projects, we need the fair tax and we need to recind the 16th ammendment that allows the government to increase taxes at there will

Please read the Fair Tax Book and stop making comments about what the Fair Tax will do or not do. No one rich or poor has an advantage with this system. The Fair Tax simply replaces an embedded tax that is already in place that everyone pays now. It also gets rid of the IRS completely and a lot of other taxes such as the Social Security tax, corporate income tax, Medicare tax, capital gains tax, self employment tax, tax audits and major headaches every April 15. The Fair Tax replaces an already embedded tax already in place. No one will be exempt from paying this tax including businesses and non profit organizations.
Simply put when anyone purchases any thing new including businesses and the rich they will be paying the Fair Tax.
The embedded tax that was already in place at approximately 20-25 percent is gone and replaced by the Fair Tax that will be 30-35 percent. No one will be exempt including businesses. No more IRS! Please read the book.

The Fair Tax does not allow the rich to skate on their taxes. The benefit to being rich is the ability to spend the money. The rich tend to buy new items. The poorer may buy second hand items. Only new items would be taxed. Those who collect welfare fraudulently and work or have other income would also be paying taxes on their new items. Drug dealers and prostitutes who make a lot of money but pay no taxes on that money would be paying taxes. People want money in order to spend it. There are also prebates for everyone to cover the basic items. Read more on the Fair Tax. The information is out there. I have read two books on it and it is the solution to many problems. It takes away the power of the Government to issue tax credits to only certain groups of people. They would no longer be able to “nudge” us into behavior we would not willingly choose.
