How Has COVID-19 Changed Us?

covid-19 changed usAmerica weathered the Great Depression, two World Wars, other conflicts and upheavals during the past centuries – all rife with uncertainties and personal sacrifice. Few lived through these trials unscathed. There were huge losses of life and fortunes. Many people were forever changed as a result, but as a people, Americans survived.

In recent decades, we have experienced organized, well-funded, efforts to destroy American government and culture as we know it and take down our Electoral College and current president. Our governments, media and neighbors are strongly polarized – from communists and progressive socialists, to moderate liberals and conservatives, to right-wing zealots. Many aware citizens’ daily lives – belief systems and emotions — are impacted to one degree or another by these forces of hate.

And now with the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has virtually shut down America and other nations, except for essential services. Aside from the terrible death toll, widespread illness and economic devastation – people wonder when, how and if ever it will all end.

Widespread use of face masks and gloves, social distancing and sheltering-in-place are all part of ‘the new normal’ – which isn’t normal at all. Loved ones are forbidden from visiting relatives in hospitals; large weddings and celebrations, plus live entertainment, just aren’t happening and many poor lonely elderly persons are suffering unusually harsh isolation.

Whether COVID-19 was a terrible accident or an engineered social experiment – America is, in large part, re-examining its traditions and culture. It can almost be guaranteed our nation will become less dependent on foreign countries for vital products and services. Less, if any, Rx medicines, will be manufactured overseas. Less of our foods will be processed or packaged in developing countries – and these industrial shifts will bring more American jobs and new praise for the phrase ‘Made in America.’

Even the most avid sports fanatic has learned how to live without arena or televised sports – while at the same time people have growing awareness and respect for our true American heroes. These heroes include doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers; law enforcement, fire/rescue squads and all participants in our vital food chain – from the farmers, to warehouse and retail store workers – and front-line checkout clerks at the market. Many of us have learned the difference between what we truly need and what we merely want. One wonders if athletes and actors might be paid too much, and the folks who help us survive may be paid too little!

Our at-home dynamics have changed, with those living in small spaces often having a tougher time than those with larger abodes. But working and schooling at home has shown what’s possible through technology – saving commuting time, gasoline and inordinately high tuition. ‘Too much togetherness’ requires new strategies and techniques, but really catching up with family members can be priceless. Cooking at home can mean less wasteful packaging and healthier ingredients.

We are spending and buying less, cleaning and decluttering our homes and enjoying nature more on our fresh-air walks. Life can seem lonelier now for singles and couples whose families have left the nest – but we can all communicate by phone, e-mail or video, if we wish. We can also offer help to neighbors like never before.

Online purchases and delivery of food and medicine are essential for the ill and frail elderly, with shipping companies thriving. Increasing stress as the pandemic draws on will exacerbate pre-existing emotional instability or mental illness – leading to destructive behaviors, drug and alcohol. More assistance needs to be available to many.

Lastly, many of us have the time to peruse various news media and discern objective stories from fake news – and most of all – with our current abnormal restrictions – we are no doubt able to appreciate America’s freedoms more – to cherish the small things in life and be grateful for our exceptional American way of life.

If you read last weeks Washington Examiner, the results of the well known Chi-Com Belt and Road project are detailed. Belt and Road is a cute name for China’s effort to subjugate third world governments by loaning money
to update infrastructure. When poor lender nations are unable to make the loan payments, the Chi-Coms
demand the transfer of property, assets, and infrastructure to China. That’s Belt and Road. Again we are kept
ignorant of the truth by our worthless daily media. Maybe I need to tune in more often to BBC.
The only thing you accomplish by tuning in to US tv media is being brainwashed by ads, being uninformed
about key developments, and , of course, paying your monthly cable bill. Quite an industry

Greetings One and All,

1. China, “RED China”, has always been the well oiled “Threat” to the world at large!..

2. The Communist Regime of China’s long standing Autocratic Authoritarian Tyrannous Leadership, has for many a decade hence past, and to this very day, simply sits off in the wings this world; While China goes forth with their “Salting” of many areas around the globe; Which is China’s way of testing the waters if you will, seeing what type of response, and or change(s) may or do occur..

3. As the Corona Virus that has spread like wild fire throughout our country, and around the globe. This is Yet another means which Communist China has put forth another “Salting” of the world at large, by in large!.

I think that it may have been an accident that the virus got out of that lab, but as usual, China decided not to let a crisis go to waste and took advantage of it and did every thing they could to spread this world wide, also maybe just to see how soon they could bring the world to it’s knees!

Greetings,

1. Communist China has always been for itself, first and foremost!.

2. The old saying; “RED China”, has not been spoken of openly, for two decades plus change. The communist autocratic, authoritarian leadership has “Not” stopped it’s pursuit to be the “Supreme” world power!. They shall not stop for “Anything or Anyone”, when it comes to inflicting pain and suffering upon the world at large overall.

3. Communist China’s Autocratic Authoritarian Leadership, has even destroyed many of China’s very own countrymen, women and children, in order to maintain their “Tyrannous Hold” on mainland China, and, several out lying islands not far from China’s overall geographical land mass!.

How many of you have had the virus or personally know of someone who has? Neither my wife nor I have.

Maybe a better question would be “How many of you have been tested for the virus?” We have heard from dozens of people, family and friends, who believe they had this virus starting back in late November all the way through to the first day the media started telling us that people were going to start dropping like flies and we were all going to die. It swept through their workplaces, their churches, their communities and families but out of all of them there were only a few who had lingering or severe symptoms that sent them to the doctor. Two actually suffered tiny rib fractures from the coughing but none were hospitalized. Their docs didn’t have a definitive diagnosis for any of them but treated the symptoms and EVERY SINGLE ONE got well.

When I add that information to the REAL numbers that are starting to leak out from coroners, from doctors and from the folks who are doing antibody testing, my research leads me to believe that the virus is actually very contagious BUT many, many, many of us have had it with no, or very mild symptoms. Then our bodies fought it off like they do nearly every single time we come in contact with billions of other germs every day of our lives. The results from the antibody tests are STUNNING!!!

We are praying for TRUTH. That the computer modeling was wrong, way, way off and now it’s time to expose the LIES and FEAR MONGERING that allowed Governors and Mayors to fire millions of people overnight without cause.

While many folks and family I’ve talked to also thought they MIGHT have had it (I live in a relatively un-touched area of Idaho), most of it sounded like a cold or the a regular influenza.

But the fact is -and this is what concerns many people – WE DON’T KNOW.
My husband and I are signed up for a state-wide testing initiative to check for antibodies tomorrow. The results in our state will be interesting, as they check the Boise/Sun Valley/Ketchum areas, which had by far the bulk of the cases, against the rest of the lightly affected parts of the state.

If you have a chance to get tested, DO IT! Only widespread antibody testing, along with ongoing community vigilance, will get us back on a path to whatever is to be our “new normal.”
And I suspect that will not actually be too far from what our past “normal” has been, in the end, with true scientific information —and not speculation and fear— to guide us!

Greetings,

Yes my wife and I do know more than a few people. Thank GOD that all of those people we both know, have pulled through the worst of it, and, they are all on the rebound to better health, and then onto to good health.

I own a restruant in Colorado, even though we are doing to gos only,it is great to calm down,do it myself and pay less fica taxes! My electric bill is small,no dishwasher in the day and my night to gos is good enough for me to keep this place going. I have had less responsibility and the rat race has come to a halt.

As another Coloradan I am glad that you have had a positive outcome from all this. I wish it was the same for many others but I have witnessed the devastation in the lives of several family members and friends. I was just consoling a friend who cried when she told me about her 40 year old son, her “toughest child”. He came into her home last week to tell her that he had to lay off 40 good people and that was the hardest thing he had ever done in his life. Then he laid down on his mom’s couch and wept like a baby…

This is an ironclad summary. No discussion desired. The novel coronavirus was hyper-infectious and, clearly, special measures were called for. C-19 particularly fed upon those with serious underlying health conditions, like the elderly (and still does). Yes, there were exceptions. There are always exceptions in nature. Then along come our hapless politicians empowered by rampant public fear, which they immediately began to usurp for political purposes. These self-adoring morons (a description that fits most American pols) then began to dictate to their constituencies an endless string of half-baked requirements that were flagrantly un-constitutional, superfluous and ill thought out (beyond the common sense things of social distancing and wearing masks that we all understood anyway). Along the way our scientific experts could not present two experts who agreed on anything. All together, not good! In general all those the American public might look to for sensible guidance bombed out on us. Pols and experts alike. The ones who deserve credit are those who worked to help those afflicted with C-19, the doctors, nurses, staffs, public responders, et. al. They were brave as hell. But the talking heads and our hapless pols made a mess of most of what they touched. Overall summary opinion: We never want to go down this path again. We never want to abrogate our civil liberties and constitutional rights to morons. We never want to allow legions of tin horn, none on the same page, imbecilic pols to tell us what we can and cannot do ever again. It’s an existential matter.

Greetings,

1. This is so very true. With my wife and I being well into our 6th decade of being here on “GOD’s Green Earth, our present days and nights, are not filled with all of the hustle and bustle of the years in which we had “Less Vintage” than we do now..

2. There is always room for improvement, in ones personal life, professional life, recreational life, or just being with ones own thoughts, while reminiscing about the many good old days..

3. We do keep ourselves busy, working on different projects together, and separately as well. This man like to get the “Honey Do’s List” down to a manageable size, as often as I am able to. Fixing things around our home is actually therapeutic. No head shirking required, not at all..

Through a “right-now” Bible teacher, we were reminded to pray for all – A L L – people: good, bad, ugly. And we’re reminded that IF God “Takes out” someone, or “Takes down” someone, God’s Word Warns us NOT to rejoice in that person’s fall, death, “whatever”–“sober”.

A.Martin

Yes, we indeed are called to pray for even those who despitefully use us. To obey government leaders as they are instituted by God. This does not mean we are to sit back and say or do nothing when they perpetrate crimes against us or makes laws that take away our God given freedoms. Vote! Rally peacefully! Hold leaders accountable and spread the word when they seemingly forget the people they represent.

Greetings,

1. Agreed Indeed. This American Patriot Citizen of Our United States, is not an overly religious person. However, I “Do” believe that there is a GOD In Heaven. The “Why” of how I believe this so strongly, is as simply as it could ever be..

2. For me to have unbridled faith, that there “Is” a GOD In Heaven, is as straight forward as it possibly could ever get to be. To have “Faith”, as it pertains to this American, is to believe that there has always been a “Supreme” Being, an Entity if you will, for lack of a better phrasing of words..

3. During my military career, I had and have experienced first hand, how GOD has been where my young military personnel, and myself, have been in many a far and distant land, where the hostilities (War) had been unrelenting, and at times, overwhelming as well!. In our country’s military service branches, we have “Chaplains”, who are the best of the best, of any Clergy which we, in our military service “To and FOR” our country, are blessed with having among the United States Armed Forces “Rank and File”, bar none. So “Yes”, I do believe in a GOD In Heaven, and I always shall..

The headline of how covid-19 leaves out the worst of all results of the virus- The opportunity for the government to take control of of the nation’s citizens and our freedoms. Never before has the worst of infectious allowed for this situation but with very aggressive power hungry folks in high places and the fear factor put forth by Doctor Fauci the night made began. Liberal state governors loved this opportunity to grab hold and crush our greatest freedoms. This was all based on supposedly protecting us. Wrong! In reality any virus must be allowed to run it’s course so those infected can build up immunties. It’s called herd immunity. This virus is contagious but not any worse than several infectious diseases of the past or even the present flu epidemic. President Trump in his inexperience allowed the aggression of those around him to convince him of the danger and start this possible irreversible situation of state mandates. My own governor last night said we may never get back to complete freedoms with the coronavirus. The ignorance of many citizens fell for this fear mongering all across the nation and allowed being taken over. Now some are starting to see that maybe this isn’t right. Folks you can’t hide from a virus that’s why we have never before seen this unwanted or undeserved control. Some will get sick and some may die but that’s the way life works. We can never allow the government to take away our constitutional civil rights.

I happen to live in the largest “Blue” state in the West, that’s right, Commiformia! … Our Jackass Governor wants to give $500 to every illegal and we have more than any other state but where is the help for all the Homeless people which we have at least 41% of the entire country? Why is it that “Red” state Governors are opening up their economies but not “Blue” states? Is it because states run by Democratic politicians are just too dumb or are they just taking advantage of this Pandemic crisis to force more of their “Progressively Communist” agendas??? I think it’s a combination of both!
Now our Jackass Governor has decided that Orange County residents be punished for attending beaches last weekend by banning their use while not banning the beaches of the rest of the state. Is it because Orange County is predominantly still a Republican resident majority??? … You bet! … Well people are starting to fight back and I am glad to see town governments saying “No!”
and saying they will Not enforce the ban! Even the Orange County Sheriff’s Department has come out and said they will
Not enforce it either. Wonderful!!! … Should be an interesting weekend. Our Civil Liberties are under attack by these Progrgressively Communist Democratic Governors and now people are getting a glimpse of how this country will be in the not too distant future if they are allowed to put their “Socialist” agenda into every day effect.
This Pandemic is revealing that yes it’s especially dangerous to the older generation especially with preexisting health conditions but otherwise not so for the majority of people. It’s time to take back our country from these Progressively Communist Democrats who lie, steal and cheat to force their power hungry dominating agendas on the populace. President Trump IS God’s last choice to save our country otherwise we become slaves instead of “free” citizens!!!

Sorry, I tend to get so wordy.

L…O…O…O..V..E to go first. What have we (I) learned ? China is public enemy #1. Its not Iran one week, Russia the next, No Korea two weeks later. Its the Chi-Coms. Get it ? China, China, China. Five years from now who______
________? C..H..I..N..A
What we also learned is that in the swamp’s haste to sell out and shut down our country, they allowed every pill other
than aspirin to be made where ???? C….H…I…N…A So the swamp got their reward. We’re shut down. Did we learn
anything from this ? I don’t know. We L….O…V…E to trust our “government”. Thats what got us where we
are today. Is there a news source that will truly tell us whats going on. I don’t think so. If so we would have known that all pills are made in China. What else do we not know ? I’m certain its plenty.
What else did we learn ? Trumps success in creating a monster economy is killing the swamps ambition.
Anything that shows that the private sector is smarter, more efficient, and more committed to the US is swamp
poison. The swamp only hopes that this temporary, yes, yes T…E..M..P..O..R..A..R..Y shutdown will kill
Trumps chances in Nov. Nay. Nay
To the logical : We all see that this election is over. The dems had to dust off a cadaver to run against DT.
All the accusations of “voter-suppression”, “racism” (so so tired), war-on-women, kill social security ( No1 back in
the 90s), loss of health care, etc, etc, etc, “a’int gettin it” .

Gordon G Chang web site will keep you informed of the truth. Rush Limbaugh radio program. Some of the so called conservative talk programs, can be a bit washy, wishy. The truth is out there, harder to find than the click of the mainstream media programs, and that’s not only news programs, the fake info, propaganda and attack Trump programs are growing like Kudzu Vine. As for China they knew what they were doing, kept Beijing safe and isolated, while all along freely allowing the rest of the World to get exposed. Yes they very well knew, if their economy would be harmed they made very sure not to suffer alone.
